Makeup Collection and Storage!

My makeup collection/storage has been a very requested video indeed, ever since I began doing Youtube videos. I finally decided to clean up my act and film this, and I'm actually super glad I did.

As I mentioned in the video, I am not trying to brag/flaunt what I have, I did this video to respond to peoples requests, and lets face it, I'm a huge sucker for these types of videos, I love watching them myself!

Both storage drawers I use, as well as the drawer dividers are from Walmart, and even if you can't get the exact same thing, I'm certain you can find something very similar. Also, the brown basket I store some of my lip glosses in is from a dollar store!

Until next time!

DIY - Glitter Makeup Brush Holder

I love Youtube for many reasons, but a huge one is the amazing inspirational ideas you can obtain from watching videos. There are SO many creative and thoughtful people out there!
I credit this tutorial to Missglamorazzi, you can watch her video tutorial version here!

You will need!
A used up candle (I'm using a Slatkin & Co. candle but any candle would do!)
Mod Podge in either a matte or gloss finish
Glitter in the color of your choice
A craft brush
Some nail polish remover
A couple of cotton pads
Dish Soap
A knife
(Oh and don't forget, something to cover your work area.. unless you want glue and glitter everywhere!)

Step 1
Place your used up candle in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, this will make the remaining wax easier to remove.
Once the time has elapsed, pull your candle out and grab your knife. Press the knife in and twist slightly in several areas in the wax to break the wax into smaller more workable pieces so it will be easier scoop out. See image bellow.

Step 2
Once the wax has all been removed there is still going to be residue from the glue that was holding the wicks in place. Grab your cotton pad and some nail polish remover and rub the sticky areas, the nail polish should bring the glue up easily.
Follow up by giving the container a good wash with some hot soapy water - this should help when you get to the next step as well.

Step 3
You can then use your knife to peel up the labels on both the front and bottom of the container. You can follow up by rubbing these areas with a little more nail polish remover to get any remaining glue residue from the surface.
Follow up with one final good wash with warm soapy water.

Step 4
Grab your paint brush and Mod Podge and paint the inside of your container with a thin even coating.

Step 5
While working over the paper you layed out, dump your glitter (a generous amount) into the container and begin shaking/rotating the container to coat the inside thoroughly.
Once you feel you have the interior well coated with your glitter, let sit for at least 2 hours so that the glue has had sufficient time to dry.
Finally, turn the container upside down and tap out any excess glitter before putting your brushes (or whatever else you decide) into your new, sparkly container!

And there you have it!
The perfect way to use up any old candles you have laying around, without a clue what to do with!

I hope you enjoyed this DIY! I love doing crafty things so let me know if you'd like to see more posts like this one!

Until next time!

Nail of the Day - Essie 'Bahama Mama'

How could you possibly go wrong when sporting a color like this through the fall months?

I am in love! I had seen enough people rave about this color on blogs/Youtube so I finally caved and purchased it a few weeks back. I finally got around to putting it on my nails for the first time a few days ago and I cannot stop starring at my hands (don't you love when a good nail polish does that?).

As with most Essie polishes it applies perfectly with the need for only two coats. Personally if a polish takes more than two, I really can't be bothered to use it all that often.

It is the perfect mix of berry, wine and plum colors all mixed into one. I plan on rocking this nail look again this weekend as it is Thank Giving weekend for us Canadians. I think it will go nicely with the festivities and the beautiful fall colors that are popping up on every tree and shrub lately.

What are some of your favorite fall nail shades?

Loving Lately: Golden Eyes & My Top Eyeshadow Picks to Get the Look!

My makeup routine lately has been pretty simple and basic, after having twins you really can't expect much else after all! One thing I have been really enjoying however is a simple wash of a gold shadow over the lid, plus some black liner and a mascara. If I'm feeling extra daring, or have the time to spare, I will go in with darker brown shadows in the outer V to create a more 'complex' look, but for every day wear simple is best!

Urban Decay e/s - Half Baked (Naked 1 palette)

One of my all time favorite golds, and I'm certain others can agree, is Half Baked by UD. It is literally the perfect gold and applies so easily to the lid - you can do a light wash, or use a dense brush to pack on the color for a more intense look. If you don't want to put your money into the Naked Palette, you can always pick up this shadow in a single pot form.

Loreal e/s Quad in Kerri's Bronzes

This is a fantastic palette for the price, I am a real lover of all Loreal palettes in fact. This one in particular has been meeting my needs nicely lately - it has the perfect four shades for a lovely fall eye look. Of course you can use these shadows separately or all together, both options are fantastic!

Elf mineral e/s in Natural

Out of all the shadows I am showing you, this one is by far the furthest from your standard 'gold' shadow. This is much more of a cross between a champagne and gold - although it appears to have peachy tones in the pot it does not come out that way when applied to the eye. These mineral shadows are fabulous actually, and for a mere $3 you really can't go wrong - much more affordable than Mac pigments that's for sure!

Mac e/s in Honey Lust

This comes off as more of a peachy gold, at least on my skin tone, but because of that it makes it a great shadow for every day wear, being not as intense a golden look as Half Baked would be. I do find there is some fall out with this shadow, but it's nothing a light sweep of a fluffy brush over your cheeks wont fix!

I hope you all enjoyed this look into my favorite golden shadows! Let me know if you have a favorite golden shadow as I'm always looking for new products to try!

September 2012 Favorites - I'm Back!

Hey Guys!

So as I have already mentioned, I gave birth to my twin girls on July 3rd, and needless to say, things have been pretty crazy around my household! But as I am getting into a better routine I am trying to get back into blogging and also filming for my Youtube channel.

That being said, I have a new monthly favorites video today!
A lot of people love these types of videos so I figured this would be the perfect place to start off!

Hope you all enjoy this and I will be back with many more blog posts and updates soon!
